Helping People Apply For Social Security Disability Insurance

Medical expenses and unpaid household bills can create anxiety for a recently disabled person. The complexity of the Social Security benefits application only makes it worse. If you miss a deadline or make an error in the required paperwork, the Social Security Administration (SSA) may delay your claim or instruct you to start over.

Pillar Law Group LLP can help you. Over the past 28 years, we have helped thousands of people in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky obtain Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits. As a result, we developed a thorough knowledge of the law, the way the system works and the types of evidence judges look for. We focus on the details that are important to winning a Social Security claim – details that can mean the difference between success and failure.

Eligibility For SSD Benefits

The first thing the SSA looks at to determine if you qualify for disability benefits is whether your disability prevents you from working. Assuming that is the case, there are three main factors used to determine your eligibility:

  • You have a medical and/or mental health condition that prevents you from working for at least a year.
  • You have a medical condition that may result in death.
  • You have worked for roughly five of the last 10 years.

If you are unable to work and you meet one of the first two qualifying factors listed above, you may qualify for benefits. We can help you with the application process and make sure all your forms are completed and filed correctly.
