Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Persons unable to work because of disability or illness who have low or little income, can be eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). SSI provides monthly benefits to people unable to work and with no work history. Social Security Disability (SSD) provides monthly benefits to persons who have worked in the past.
